Fake Responce to my Roommate Search?!

Okay so there's this HUGE scam going around Craigslist and I thought I'd put it out there so these people can't con anyone else. Luckily I was able to catch it but then again mine was pretty obvious.

It started when I put an ad on Craigs looking for a roommate and I got about four responses to it one of which was a "girl" from France. Anyway the scam is that they want to send you money through either a cashier's check or a check, western union or a money order. In my case they sent me a check for 3500 dollars when I only asked for 150, then they said they'd "made a mistake" and asked me to send them back the 3350.

BUT the catch is the check they send is a fake, and it WILL bounce. So instead of making some extra cash you get left with nothing after sending YOUR actual money to them.

Like I said though mine seemed fake, I mean they "live in France" sent me a check from a Texas address and wanted me to wire money to their "travel agent" in Alaska. Yeah right. So I was able to google it and found these news articles on it.
